Solution Consultant- HP-Opsware: Server Automation 

These high profile Solution Consultants are proven executive-level professionals who thrive on navigating his or her way to solutions within complex technical environments.   With this person’s unmatched talents, tenacity, energy, and focus they will establish new and maintain existing client relationships, explore clients’ business issues, articulate value propositions, and manage implementations.  Candidates will be expected to live near a major airport, available for significant travel and will work remotely.

Ultimately, they serve as an essential member of the Customer Solutions team, responsible for the successful deployment and customization of the tools on customer premises.  He/she will provide data center automation consulting services to customers and should be comfortable representing the company.  He/she should expect to use his/her expert-level system administration skills and strong understanding of cross-platform administration and large-scale, distributed systems.

The Solution Consultants serves as a principal member of the engineering team and designs and documents overall solutions architecture, oversees development, serves as an expert in technical challenge areas, troubleshoots and corrects problems across multiple systems, assists in software deployment, manages software and provides and implements architectural recommendations to clients regarding server and application management efforts.  A Solution Architect must rely on his/her ability with systems, networks and application flow to identify and resolve configuration issues and problems. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deploy the HP/Opsware Software (Server Automation, Network Automation, & Operation Orchestration) on client premises.




• Facilitate workshops / design sessions with key client decision makers to create the overall business solution, then develop and get consensus for the underlying architecture.  Document, obtain approval for, and publish the agreed-upon solutions design.




• Customize and extend Opsware based on client business requirements.




• Work with customer to deploy large-scale, business-critical applications using Opsware.




• Develop Python scripts, shell scripts, VB scripts and batch files for automation of system and application administration.




• Develop custom applications using the Opsware APIs and industry standard programming languages such as Python, Perl, SH or Java to meet clients’ business needs.




• Define and communicate customer-driven product enhancements to the Engineering group.




• Debug low-level operating system, networking and application problems.




• Increase capacity for customers to use, administer and customize Opsware independently.




• Package clients’ custom technology and applications for use with Opsware.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience.




• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the use of HP/Opsware Sever Automation System (SAS)




• Minimum of 1 year of System Administration or Systems Architecture experience in support of distributed large-scale UNIX (primarily SUN Solaris and Red Hat Linux) and Microsoft Windows systems environments.




• Proficiency with System administration and debugging on at least two of the following platforms: Solaris, Linux, AIX, HP-UX, BSD and Windows.




• Familiarity with Network configuration and troubleshooting on large IP networks. DNS and DHCP administration preferred.




• Proficiency in automation of common tasks with Perl, Python, shell scripts, VB script and batch files.




• An understanding of how various server applications (Web Servers, databases, application servers) work together for an overall systems solution.




• Proficiency with software packaging (e.g. RPM, MSI, etc.) and software distribution.




• Strong written and verbal skills.




• Ability to work effectively across teams and disciplines within the organization.




• Ability to lead workshops / design sessions with multiple decision makers and create and document an appropriate business solution.




• Exceptional conceptual and analytical problem solving abilities.




• Exceptional consulting and customer service skills.




• Self-motivated and able to define, plan and implement long-term tasks and goals




• Self-starter who takes initiative and works well in a team environment




• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently when required.




• Software development experience. Experience with Python or Java preferred.




• Oracle database, SQL and Crystal Reports experience preferred.




• Application technologies, including IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic, JBOSS, .NET framework, etc., preferred.




• Common internet protocols including HTTP, SSL and SOAP/XML-RPC/Web Services preferred.

***Candidates with experience from companies similar to Regan Technologies or Seamless Tech would be ideal

Travel:

Regional travel is required, but much of the development work can be done off site.  We have worked very hard to keep it to a minimum.  Candidates should be prepared for 2-3 days of travel 2 weeks out of the month.  Again, mostly regionally focused.

Compensation:

The most driven and dedicated  professionals will be compensated with a lucrative structure with outstanding upside potential.  Base salaries will range depending on experience between $120,000- $130,000. plus 15-20% bonus.
